P-242 and P-246 Preloaded High Load Piezo Translators are high resolution linear actuators for static and dynamic applications. They provide sub-millisecond response and sub-nanometer resolution. The high load capacity and internal spring preload makes them ideal for machining applications and vibration cancellation.

Standard models are specifically designed for open loop operation. For highest accuracy, select the P-177.10 closed loop option integrating ultra-high resolution strain gage position sensors for operation with PI servo control electronics.

P-246 models are equipped with thinner Piezo ceramic layers than P-242 models, providing more displacement in the same package. On the other hand, their maximum operating voltage is limited to -1000 V with voltages in excess of -750 V recommended only for short periods of time.

Models P-246.xx, P-242.30 and P-242.40 come with a stainless steel case with internal spring preload protecting the Piezo ceramic stack. Models P-242.10 and P-242.20 come with an aluminum case, stainless steel end pieces and spring bolts providing the preload.

Application examples:
Precision machining, adaptive mechanics, vibration cancellation, smart structures, static and dynamic positioning of heavy parts, force generation for bending or compressing of material, etc.
