The high load linear actuator family P-239 is based on a ceramic stack of piezoelectric materials for high performance, ultra-high resolution motion. They can be operated in static and highly dynamic mode, with 990lbs (450kg) load. These actuators provide sub-millisecond response and sub-nanometer resolution. The internal spring preload makes them ideal for high precision machining applications, such as diamond turning, out-of-round turning, etc. 

Standard PZT actuator models can be operated in open loop operation and provide nanometer resolution. For highest precision, accuracy, and repeatability, the P-177.10 closed loop feedback sensor option is available, integrating ultra-high resolution strain gage position feedback sensors for operation with PI high performance servo control electronics (click here for details on Position Sensors and Closed Loop Operation).

P-239 high load precision actuator models are equipped with special Piezoelectric ceramic layers, providing displacement up to 180 µm at -1000 V operating voltage. For maximum lifetime, voltages in excess of -750 V are recommended only for short periods of time.

The PZT stack actuator is protected from large pulling forces by a stainless-steel case with internal spring preload. The standard translator tip and base have tapped holes. Select the P-239.95 ball tip option to help decouple off-axis or torque loads from the translator tip. For push/pull forces up to 5 N, the translator can be mounted by clamping around the case. For larger forces, the translator must be mounted by the base.
