PI adds 6-Axis Robot Operating System (ROS) Drivers to its Hexapod 6-DOF Robotic Positioners

December 2, 2020 – The Robot Operating System (ROS) by ROS.org is a flexible framework for robotics software development.  PI recently released ROS drivers for its compact 6-Axis Robot of the parallel kinematics H-811 hexapod family.

These miniature hexapod 6-axis robot positioning systems provide sub-micron precision for applications requiring 4-axes, 5-axes and 6-axes of motion, including Silicon Photonics array alignment, medical robotics, camera lens optimization, and microscopy.  The new drivers allow design engineers to seamlessly integrate the hexapods into a ROS environment. PI also includes an URDF model to add visualization to the simulation.
